OUR HISTORY....
Macon First Baptist Church is growing group of born-again believers originally organized in 1866. The original building, located in Macon, MO at the corner of Rutherford and Daugherty Streets, burnt in 1899 and in 1900 a new building was rebuilt in the same location. That structure still stands today. Through the years, two buildings were added for more Discipleship and Educational space and surrounding land purchased for parking.
In 1996, MaconFBC committed to begin expansion of the campus and to remain at the current downtown location. They also committed to remain debt-free in future building projects. Ground broke in Spring 2001 to begin construction of a new multi-purpose building that would house a larger space for WORSHIP and more rooms for DISCIPLESHIP. Through the devotion of many MaconFBC men and women as well as efforts from churches and entities from all over the U.S., the building was completed in 2004 debt-free.
The new multi-purpose building serves many purposes today. The LOWER LEVEL houses Small Group and Discipleship rooms, Student Ministry classrooms and space for AWANA Clubs. The MAIN LEVEL houses a commercial kitchen, music room, main platform, and a large area for Sunday Worship which also is used for AWANA games, sports outreach and fellowship events.
In January 2008, MaconFBC began an EXTREME CHURCH MAKEOVER project to demolition and renovate the existing 2-floor Children's Wing. With the help of over 100 people involved 24/7, the new KIDS COVE Children' s Wing was unveiled in 2 months time and now houses over 150 kids for KIDS COVE WORSHIP, AWANA and SUNDAY SCHOOL.
New and exciting ministries are taking shape at MaconFBC everyday of the week. The building isn't the church....the PEOPLE are the church. The building won't stand forever. Our eternal HOPE is built on the CORNERSTONE OF JESUS, which DOES STAND FOREVER. As people find HOPE for their lives and join ministry at MaconFBC, we will continue being "a lighthouse of HOPE reflecting God's message of Salvation through committed relationships."
